Coming Soon to Group Complete: 2012 Roadmap

Return to Blog

Group Complete was first released on March 31st, 2011 and a lot has happened since then. We've built upon the idea that data collection should empower you to mobilize, collect, collaborate and act. 12 releases later we're continuing to expand that notion and help bring data to the doorstep of your business and organization.

With over 1,200 installs and hundreds of active users the Group Complete community is growing every day and we're thrilled to see Group Complete being used in many different ways. From simple electronic forms to work assignment & task-driven data collection, we're excited about how people are putting Group Complete to use.

To everyone who has given Group Complete a try over the past year — thank you! Please reach out and say hello, we'd love to hear what you think and find ways to help Group Complete make your life easier and connect your mobile team.

Our Roadmap for 2012

We're going to be hard at work over the next several months and we're revved up about what's coming in 2012. With that in mind, here's a sneak peak at our roadmap and what you can expect for the New Year.

GC Mobile: More power in your hand

The complete list of upgrades and enhancements coming to GC Mobile is too long to mention here but we wanted to give you an idea of some of the new things that are headed to your smartphone and tablet.

  • Mobile-to-Mobile Synchronization

GC Mobile will gain the ability to perform mobile-to-mobile synchronization of forms & data in 2012. To keep you working when others can't, this unique capability will allow your mobile workers to collect and share form-based information in environments where cellular and WiFi networks are unavailable.

  • Better Tablet Support

Originally intended to run on smartphones, GC Mobile doesn't take advantage of all of the screen area found on tablets. Expect to see new screens that are designed with tablets in mind and place more information and capability at your fingertips. With this will come support for certain tablets that GC Mobile doesn't run particularly well on (Samsung Galaxy Tab, we're looking at you!).

  • Android: Ice Cream Sandwich

Group Complete Mobile for Android will be coming to mobile devices running Android 4.0 (code name "Ice Cream Sandwich") in the first quarter of 2012.

Group Complete Enterprise Edition

We are very excited about the upcoming release of Group Complete Enterprise Edition! Slated for availability in March 2012, Enterprise Edition will bring the flexibility and power Group Complete to businesses and organizations who need a scalable deployment at a lower total cost of ownership. Packaged in a portable virtual machine, GC Enterprise is the ultimate self-hosted mobile data collection solution.

Pricing, system requirements and more information on Group Complete Enterprise Edition will be available in January 2012.

New Web Portal

Plenty of people have written to ask about web-accessible options for working with Group Complete. We've listened and are planning a whole new web portal to address those needs. Here are some of the features you'll be seeing in our new web portal.

  • Folder & Form Browser

A dynamic new interface will give you seamless access to your forms and data from the web. Coupled with a powerful search feature, the web-enabled Folder & Form browser will give you new ways to interact with your information.

  • Template Editor

A web-enabled version of our template editor is currently under development. Suitable for more complicated forms, the web-based form editor will make it possible to build and edit form templates on your PC or Mac and deploy them for immediate use.

  • Real-Time & Batch Connectors

We are planning to introduce new real-time and batch-mode connectors to give you more ways to get the most out of your data. Connectors for JSON, CSV, RSS, SQL, Google Docs, Email and other transport mechanisms and formats will enable you to send forms and data to other systems for storage or analysis and use incoming information streams to create and populate forms for task-driven data collection.

New Hosting Infrastructure

We're currently planning for a massive upgrade of our hosting infrastructure to provide customers of Group Complete's hosted services with a better performing and more responsive online experience.

Until Next Time

Happy Holidays from everyone at Group Complete!
